Zoom Meeting 4/2/21
Zoom Meeting April 2nd, 2021
Present: Larry, Mary, Tony
Notes by Tony Marturano
Discussions:
1 - President by Tony Marturano
Mary has requested to step down as SSRTA Treasurer. Tony has agreed to take Mary’s resignation provided that she stay on thru the transfer to a new Treasurer and Mary has agreed. Tony has appointed SSRTA member Martha Rago as the new treasurer to complete Mary’s term per SSRTA ByLaws. Tony has put Mary and Martha in contact; they will get together to complete the transfer of all materials and devices involved.
Tony has been in contact with Aurelio’s Pizza in Homewood to reserve their Party Room for our anticipated in-person Luncheon and Meeting on September 15th, 2021. In an email exchange with Tina Boldt (who is Aurelio’s Pizza Party Coordinator) Tony was informed that at this time Aurelio’s is not booking their Party Room. Tony plans to follow up at the end of April.
Occasionally SSRTA receives an email request from commercial contacts/salespeople or occasionally from members to post materials to the SSRTA FaceBook page and/or the SSRTA website (usually on the resources page). Moving forward the SSRTA Executive Committee needs to develop a response and process to deal with these requests.
Tony, in his role as SSRTA Information Services Committee Chair has updated the SSRTA website for the 2021 Monthly Meetings for March, April, and potentially May, June and September as well as other information.
2 -Vice-President and Legislative Committee Chair by Larry Schwarberg
Larry has been in contact with IRTA. There is nothing from IRTA concerning Legislation at this time and the IL General Assembly is in recess.
Larry has also said that he would provide materials in order to update the Legislation page on the SSRTA website.
3 - Treasurer by Mary Milligan
Mary has submitted her resignation and will meet with Martha Rago to complete the transition to Martha as the new SSRTA Treasurer.
Next SSRTA Executive Committee Meeting
The next ExecComm meeting is planned for Tuesday, May 4th at 1pm. Georgia has suggested that we have it in person at her house on her patio. More details to follow.

2. Committee Reports
- President: Tony Marturano will continue to call members who do not have/do not respond to the current email address listed in SSRTA records.
- Treasurer: No report.
- Secretary: No report.
- Legislation: Larry Schwarberg reported on several topics relating to activity at the IL State Legislature. The current Budget proposed by Governor Pritzker fully funds both TRS pensions and TRIP insurance. IRTA has hired a consulting firm to review the IRTA Constitution. Retired teachers can continue to teach/substitute without affecting their pension. IRTA membership continues to increase and has grown to more that 39000 members.
- Membership: Jan Vinson continues to prepare to contact the new retirees for the Class of 2021 (2020-2021 school year) in order to invite them to join SSRTA.
- FaceBook: No report.
- IRTA Area 3 Communications: Jan Bryant reminded us that the IRTA Area Conferences for 2021 will be virtual on the ZOOM platform. The Area 3 Conference (including SSRTA) will be June 15th. Links to be coming later from Jan. Also, the IRTA State Convention is planning to be live and in person in Springfield on October 18 and 19. The IRTA website will be updated with more information for the Convention in the near future.
- Tony reported from the IRTA Information Technology Committee that IRTA is looking into another virtual meeting platform as they feel that the ZOOM platform has been cumbersome during all the large group meetings which IRTA has been hosting since March 2020. No decision has been made at this time.

Zoom Meeting 2/4/21
Zoom SSRTA Meeting on Thursday, February 4, 2021
President’s Report:
Mary Milligan is in the hospital.
Liz Miller is unable to join the meeting.
Jan Vinson has streamlined the membership making Tony’s work easier.
Tony asked for names and phone numbers of members with no e-mails.
Tony would like to know if Georgia Sizemore is able to rejoin our meetings.
We need to brainstorm how to bring in more members to help carry the SSRTA work load.
Tony learned that Aurelio’s is not going to schedule groups for the foreseeable future.
Jan Vinson’s Membership Report:
Jan received some names of teachers who retired on 2020 and sent the information for new retirees electronically and will do the same for 2021. The lists are not as comprehensive. It was suggested that she contact Nathan in Springfield to try to obtain the personal e-mails of those who did become members.
Jan also mentioned the possibility of having a Zoom link with AMBA representative.
Jan Bryant’s Report:
Jan also mentioned that the Area 3 IRTA Conference will take place in June via Zoom. There is no link yet. Tony wants to know if there is a limit as to how many people from each area can attend.
Jan also mentioned the IRTA Biennial Convention in Springfield that takes place this fall in October 18-19 2021. More information is needed. This one will be in person.
Respectfully submitted,
Alba Q. Endicott
